Understand When You Need ENT Care

A Cold That Won't Quit

Not every blocked nose needs a specialist. A cold usually clears up on its own within seven to ten days. Once congestion, facial pressure, or thick discharge drags on past that point, doctors generally start checking for sinusitis instead. That is usually when people finally start looking for an ear nose and throat clinic instead of reaching for one more decongestant.

Ringing, Noise & Vertigo

The ringing that starts after a concert or a night of heavy drinking is unlikely to be a reason to schedule a medical appointment, as it should subside after a few days. However, if noises persist for weeks and are only present on one side or are accompanied by vertigo, it may be a sign of Meniere's disease, and it should be taken seriously. Sometimes there is nothing serious except fluid retention in the eardrum, though, and a specialist at an ear nose and throat treatment center will sort that out.

Recurring Infections In Kids

As for children, a stuffy nose or an ear infection in a kid is not a reason to rush to the hospital, as most of these symptoms are common for any viral infection. However, if an infection occurs three times within six months, there is a good chance that the cause is not a virus, and a specialist will have to look at the eustachian tube and adenoids. Recurring infections usually require a more systematic approach than waiting for the infection to clear on its own.

How We Reach a Diagnosis

Dr. Saud Ahmed, the leading ENT at Excell, was awarded All India Rank 1 in the post-graduation DNB entrance examination. He has also been featured among the top ten ENT surgeons in the country by the Silicon India Magazine in 2024. Dr. Ahmed also serves as a consultant at Manipal Hospital, Millers Road, and heads the ENT department at HBS Charitable Hospital, meaning that any surgical intervention requiring hospitalization will be performed under the supervision of a doctor our patients already know.

Endoscopy matters because a standard exam can miss a small polyp sitting deep inside a sinus opening. A thin scope with a camera lets the doctor see it on a screen instead of guessing from symptoms alone. Depending on what turns up, we move to audiometry for hearing complaints, a skin prick test for allergies, or a CT scan for structural sinus problems.

Our Services & Treatments

Each area below is handled by a doctor trained specifically in it, which usually means a more precise diagnosis than a single generalist trying to cover all eleven at once.

Conditions We Diagnose and Treat

Sinusitis, tonsillitis, hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, chronic ear infections, deviated septum, sleep apnea, thyroid swelling, voice disorders, nasal polyps, allergic rhinitis, adenoid problems in children, and head or neck lumps make up most of what walks through the door weekly.

If your complaint is not listed here, it is still worth a visit, since symptoms in this field overlap more than most people expect.

Why Patients Choose Excell ENT Clinic

Dr Saud Ahmed, who leads the clinical team, secured All India Rank 1 in the post-diploma DNB entrance examination in ENT and was named among the top 10 ENT surgeons in the country by Silicon India Magazine in 2024.

Between them, the team has completed over 10,000 procedures across 31 surgical categories, so there are very few ENT problems the doctors have not already seen in some form. Diagnostics like VNG testing for vertigo, home based sleep studies, and full audiology testing are all done in house, so a diagnosis rarely means being sent elsewhere before treatment can start.

What Happens After a Diagnosis

The options for further treatment are usually divided into three categories: conservative therapy, minimally invasive procedures, and surgery. In most cases, the course of action is evident based on the diagnosis, though the expectations of the patient can also affect the proposed treatment plan. Conservative therapy is typically adequate for uncomplicated cases of sinusitis. A deviated septum, on the other hand, is a structural defect that cannot be cured with medication, and a competent ear nose and throat doctor will advise the patient accordingly.

A follow-up consultation, usually scheduled between two and four weeks after the initial appointment, will be necessary to assess the efficacy of the proposed therapy. If it fails to yield the expected results, another course of treatment will be discussed at the next appointment.

Hearing Aid Fitting and Audiology Care

Hearing loss is graded from mild to profound based on a pure tone audiometry test, and the aid we recommend, behind the ear, in the ear, or a smaller receiver in canal model, depends on that grading along with lifestyle and budget.

It also tends to creep up slowly enough that people adjust without ever noticing they are adjusting. Someone turns the television up a notch every few months until a family member finally says something. After a full evaluation, we walk through the options honestly, including what each one actually costs, and every patient gets a trial period before committing to anything.

Recovery Timelines by Procedure

The specifics of recovery will be discussed in detail during the post-surgery or post-intervention appointment, as the process differs depending on the procedure performed.

  • Tympanoplasty / Septoplasty

As a general rule, patients can expect to see improvements within six weeks of the intervention.

  • Allergy Immunotherapy

Typically requires a year of regular treatments, although most patients find that their symptoms are significantly affected after several months, and the daily dose of antihistamines can be reduced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most consultations and small procedures like earwax removal are not painful, though some discomfort is possible during things like a foreign body removal. Surgical cases include anesthesia as part of the plan from the start.

The cost of the intervention is contingent upon the diagnosis, and a rough estimate can only be provided after an examination. A routine consultation with a battery of routine tests will be significantly cheaper than surgeries performed under general anesthesia.

The results of therapy for infections are usually apparent a week after the course has begun. Most interventions, including septoplasty or tympanoplasty, require about six weeks of recovery for the full effect to become evident.

Yes, Pediatric ENT is a regular part of what we do, and procedures for children follow age appropriate protocols with parents involved throughout.

Sudden hearing loss, heavy nosebleeds that will not stop, or difficulty breathing should not wait for a routine slot. We treat these as emergency ent cases and try to see patients the same day.
